3 tips to avoid crappy content

Consistent, quality content is king if you want to attract more customers and create opportunities to convert. There is content everywhere you look, and the stats suggest customers are drowning in it.

Currently, there are more than 2 billion social media users worldwide and 54% use social media for product research (Source: Global Web Index). While having the opportunity to distribute content is literally at your fingertips, the competition is fierce. In 2018 there were 50 million small businesses using Facebook as their primary platform for churning out content (Source: Facebook) and 4 million were paying for advertising (Source: Forbes).

So, how can your business create quality content that delivers results? We have three key rules we refer to when it comes to creating content for our clients – so let’s get into it!

Creating value for your customers starts with identifying their needs and how your business fits into the picture. How does your business meet their needs? How can your business solve their problem? Moving your focus from a “selling” mindset to a “helping” mindset is something that should always be in the back of your mind when creating content.

However, simply educating your audience how you can help and why you do it better than everyone else isn’t enough for you to get by. Content needs to stand out. Most businesses invest heavily in digital platforms to distribute their content, amongst thousands of other businesses yours needs to have cut-through. How can your message standout in a crowded digital space? Understanding your audience and your industry is the first step as there is not a one-size-fits all for content.

Here are a few suggestions for content creation.

1.      Create content that evokes emotion and is relatable

2.      Create content that entertains and is fun/cheeky

3.      Include an exclusive offer or discount

4.     Discount on their first purchase or service

5.      Exclusive offer for new member sign ups

6.      Provide tips and tricks

Lastly, understanding what social media platforms suit your business is crucial.Spending hours generating content for the wrong platform will achieve low click-throughs and conversions. Having a person on your team dedicated to maintaining, updating, reporting and analysing the results is always best.
